The town was founded in 1896 as a key stop on the Kansas City, Pittsburg and Gulf Railroad. Its downtown streets were laid out by a railroad engineer named Robert Gillham, and the area grew quickly around the booming rail industry. While the house itself isn’t on the National Register of Historic Places, it’s just a short walk from Mena’s Commercial Historic District, where many original buildings from the late 1800s to early 1900s still stand. The neighborhood offers a glimpse into Mena’s past, and we’ve worked hard to preserve that century-old charm while updating the home with modern comfort. We hope you enjoy your stay!
